Generosity gives Austin Health nurses an incredible opportunity
Austin Health is proud to be able to offer our nurses access to one of the most valuable nursing scholarships available in Australia - the new Beverley Briese Austin Health Nursing Scholarship.
The Scholarship makes $55 000 available each year to support a nurse from Austin Health who has a significant question of practice with national or international travel or appropriate study programs.
Chief Nursing Officer, Bernadette Twomey, said the Scholarship is being offered for the first time in 2019.
"Beverley Briese has supported Austin Health in a range of ways for almost 50 years," Ms Twomey said.
"Her latest act of generosity gives a unique development opportunity for an outstanding Austin Health nurse. But more importantly, it will also us to share a new level of understanding across the organisation and enhance the quality of care we can provide to our patients.
"We are looking for nurses who are able to clearly demonstrate how they would use the scholarship to benefit patient care and contribute to Austin Health's strategic vision.
"This is such a unique opportunity for our nursing staff and is something we are very proud to be able to offer here at Austin Health," she said.
This scholarship is the latest example of Beverley's generous contribution to Austin Health.
"I have always thought Austin Health nursing staff are wonderful and caring professionals and I think it's terrific they now have access to one of the best scholarship opportunities in the country," Beverley said.
Bernadette said any nursing staff interested in applying for the Scholarship are encouraged to go to hub/AHNA and download an application form.
"Applications to be the first ever recipient of the Beverley Briese Austin Health Nursing Scholarship are currently open and close on Wednesday, 17 July 2019," she said.
