Going Dry in July is a small price to pay!
Almost 240 determined ONJ Centre supporters gave up alcohol for the month of July, raising a record $111,254 for vital wellness and supportive care programs helping people with cancer.
The money raised by this year's Dry July will go directly towards programs like Gentle Yoga, Oncology Massage, Art Therapy, the Information Centre and the Music Recording Studio.
Suan from the Wellness Centre sees the enormous impact wellness programs have on patients and families, and expressed her gratitude to the amazing contribution made by Dry July’ers.
“Every day I see how patients and families are supported by our wellness programs,” says Suan. “Dry July’ers really are making a life-changing difference for patients, families and carers.”
Other staff and patients also shared their thoughts on how the Wellness programs supported by Dry July benefit people on their cancer journey at the ONJ Centre.
“Yoga enables me to feel better physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. I find yoga provides very necessary soul food for me.”- Jackie Edsall, patient
“I get to the point where my neck feels like it’s wrapped up with barbed wire. Oncology massage is a life-saver for me and incredibly beneficial to my quality of life.” – Beverley Douglas, patient
“I’ve seen music therapy help patients express difficult emotions and to find meaning, comfort and joy in the present moment.” – Kate McMahon, Music Therapist
The Fundraising Team would like to say thank you to everybody who committed to a Dry July and raised money to support people with cancer.
