This is who I am
As you may know, I have come to Austin Health as Executive Director Human Resources after two years at The University of Melbourne. I am delighted to join such an esteemed health service and to be part of a dedicated executive and HR team. I am very grateful to everyone for welcoming me so warmly.
I grew up in Western Sydney and spent my early university years at The University of Melbourne's Conservatorium of Music where I came to understand that talent alone does not make you great - you need focus, commitment, determination and practice. I'm no longer a ‘dedicated musician' but I continue to apply these lessons to most things.
My husband and I have two teenage children, so away from work I'm passionate about time with my family - my husband Mark, Isabella 16, Max 14 and our dog Lottie. I'm a keen runner, gardener and gallery hopper (if only I had more time) and traveller (if only I had more time and money!).
This is what I believe in
I get out of bed in the morning to be part of a hardworking and focused executive team and to apply my field of expertise, which is Human Resources, to help people and organisations thrive and flourish.
I'm someone who believes there is greatness in all of us. I am passionate about helping people to identify and realise their strengths; to work together to achieve their goals and to lead others authentically.
I like working in complex environments where I am challenged to lead HR teams to have a positive impact on what the organisation is grappling with and trying to achieve. I pride myself on role modelling a strengths-based approach to leadership, and being supportive of my peers and colleagues.
Why Austin Health?
I'm also passionate about health care and the great work so many people do to deliver outstanding patient care, teaching and learning, and world class research to the communities in which we live. Joining Austin Health has given me the opportunity and responsibility to help support the amazing work we do in a highly complex and changing environment and to figure out how HR can best support the organisation now and into the future.
How I hope to contribute
New to health care, the last few months have been an incredible journey of discovery and learning for me. I can see that I chose well. With lots to be proud of, Austin Health is well placed to leverage its positive culture and amazing people to continue to deliver outstanding patient care and to transform and evolve, as it must in the future.
I look forward to leading the development of a People Strategy in the coming months and considering best practices that might help all of us to work successfully in complex and rapidly changing environments.
I have a strong belief that what you choose to believe about yourself and others supports the happiness you create and attract in life.
I look forward to the journey ahead and to working with many of you.
