Changes to staff car parking fees and meals and entertainment benefit

The COVID-19 pandemic has been an especially challenging time for healthcare workers. There’s been some changes in-light-of COVID-19 to try and make things a little easier.

You’ll notice a 30 per cent reduction in staff car parking fees from Monday

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought new and different ways or working, with many staff taking leave or working from to help reduce the spread of the virus.

To make it easier for staff to stay safe and avoid public transport and in recognition that many staff are paying for parking when they’re working from home, we will be reducing car parking fees by 30 per cent.

The casual rate paid in the Austin Tower will also be reduced to $9 a day (usually $17).

The reduced fees will commence on Monday 27 April and will remain in place until 30 June.

These arrangements will be reviewed on a monthly basis and will advise you of any changes ahead of them being made.

If you pay for car parking out of your salary, you do not need to do anything. Payroll will adjust the amount deducted for you.

You can use meals and entertainment benefit for takeaway meals from restaurants

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the ATO have advised that staff can use their meals and entertainment benefit for takeaway meals from restaurants.

This is for the current Fringe Benefit Tax year only and receipts can be backdated from 1 March 2020. For more info visit the ATO website.
