Stanley Chiang, Helen Thornton and Martin Botros

Introducing our three new board members

Austin Health has recently welcomed three new members to its board.

Dr Stanley Chiang is a specialist GP who runs several private clinics. He is also a member of the Victorian Ministerial Advisory Council on Multicultural Affairs, former Mayor of the City of Darebin and Former Commissioner for the Victorian Multicultural Commission.

Ms Helen Thornton is a chartered accountant with over 30 years experience and has worked for a number of large organisations including Deloitte and KPMG. Ms Thornton specialises in risk management and has sat on both private and Government boards. The importance of the health sector to the community and the complexity and challenges of the sector attracted Ms Thornton to join Austin Health's board.

Mr Martin Botros trained as both a lawyer and a physiotherapist. He has worked in a variety of roles,
including the Coroners Court of Victoria, the Victorian WorkCover Authority, Avant Law, and previously at Austin Health. He currently works as a medico legal adviser.

He is the National President of Kidsafe Australia, an independent, non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to the prevention of unintentional death, injury and associated disability to children. He also chairs the Performance and Professional Standards Panels for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (for the Nursing & Midwifery, Pharmacy, and Psychology National Boards of Australia).

Mr Botros' previous experience includes serving on Eastern Health's Board of Directors, Football Federation Victoria's Tribunal, the Podiatrists Registration Board of Victoria and Manningham Community Health Service's Board of Management.
