Steven Wells on Gardening Australia.

Steven Wells to guest present Gardening Australia

Tune in to ABC's Gardening Australia at 7.30pm tonight and you may spot a few familiar faces.

Tonight's episode is the first in a series of Gardening Australia episodes that will feature Austin Health's Gardens and Grounds Officer and horticultural therapist, Steven Wells, as a guest presenter.

The first episode also visits several of the gardens at Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre, including the garden that started it all - Mr. Well's sensory garden. This episode includes interviews with staff members Fran Pearce and Sue Taylor, as well as a recent patient. Those who've always wondered what Steven Wells' home garden looks like will get a chance to see that too.

Mr. Wells says that he has filmed four episodes of the program to date, and could be presenter for up to six.

"I'll be a guest presenter sharing some stories about horticultural therapy, therapeutic garden projects and the value that gardens and gardening programs can bring to different people in different situations," Mr. Wells says.

Mr. Wells says that he has taken this opportunity with Gardening Australia outside his usual work commitments, but that the programs "will help to promote the work that we do here at Austin Health."

The Gardens and Grounds Project is on Facebook and Mr. Wells also shares his work on Instagram. Recently, Mr. Wells has been revisiting and posting updates on garden projects across Austin Health.
