Abstract submissions for ResearchFest 2019 are now open
Abstract submissions are now open for ResearchFest. Researchers who submit an abstract have the opportunity to share how they’re using science to help people have better health outcomes – as well as to vie for part of $14,000 in prizes and travel scholarships.
ResearchFest is an exciting time at Austin Health, as our researchers and clinicians come together to share their experiences, learnings, set up new collaborations and plan for future cooperative grant applications.
“This culture of research excellence is why we’re able to attract the best students and scientists from around Australia and the world,” says Geraldine Richards, Project Officer for the Office of Research.
In 2018, abstracts for 253 research projects were submitted and over 400 staff attended ResearchFest, which is held at Austin Hospital in October every year.
The $14,000 in prizes and grants will mean that eligible researchers can attend overseas conferences to further their research careers.
"We’re also hosting a series of ‘Open Labs’ this ResearchFest. Visitors can learn about a range of research areas that make up Austin Health LifeSciences. This includes visiting neuroscience research labs, sleep labs, cancer research labs and translational obstetric research,” says Geraldine.
